'We are all in mourning.' We at They See Blue are heartbroken at the senseless loss of life from the recent gun violence. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the 19 children and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, killed by a gunman May 24. We also grieve for the 10 people murdered by a mass shooter just 10 days before at the Tops Friendly Markets store in Buffalo, New York. It is unfathomable what the families of the deceased and injured and their communities are going through but we are there for them. As Joe Perez, a minister at the Getty Street Church of Christ near the school, said people from all over Texas are despondent. "We are all in mourning," he said. The scene at Uvalde, Texas. • 2018 Campaign | They See Blue

2018 CAMPAIGN In our inaugural year, we engaged with fellow South Asian Americans to successfully flip two seats in the CA-Congress from red to blue. 2018 GOALS Flip the House - Elect Josh Harder in District CA-10 (defeat Jeff Denham) - Elect TJ Cox in District CA-21 (defeat David Valadao) - Elect Andrew Janz in District CA-22 (defeat Devin Nunes) 2018 Campaign Photos 2018 Campaign Media They See Blue, founded in July 2018 by four of our members, were galvanized into action by the catastrophic election result of 2016. Each of our co-founders had followed their own path into activism after the 2016 election. Using their collective experience, they sprung into action to inspire fellow South Asian Americans to take part in grassroots activism and constructive endeavors. They See Blue's first meeting was held in early August 2018 with a group of like-minded friends to kick off the movement. For the 2018 midterm election, They See Blue had a modest goal: to help flip the House of Representatives from red to blue. We identified three Republican-held House seats in California’s Central Valley (CA-10, CA-21 and CA-22) and decided to support the Democratic candidates in those races: Josh Harder, TJ Cox and Andrew Janz. Over the next three months, They See Blue executed a detailed plan to flip these seats, including fundraising, Get Out The Vote efforts such as canvassing, phone banking, text banking, and voter registration, and paid media such as mailing flyers, and radio spots. They See Blue realized that our voter engagement efforts were much more successful with fellow South Asians, because of the established instant rapport due to shared background and cultural identity. This “secret sauce” really helped us maximize our results in voter awareness and engagement. As the word spread about our group and our unique approach, our mission began to resonate with the South Asian community in the Bay Area, CA. We grew to over 200 members and reached out to thousands of South Asian voters in Central Valley, CA. Our efforts bore fruit: Josh Harder and TJ Cox won by narrow margins. The third candidate, Andrew Janz, running against Devin Nunes narrowed the gap by 30 percentage points, a significant difference from the previous election (5% vs. 35%). The CA-21 race was called nearly a month after the election and TJ Cox came from behind to win by only 862 votes! Our efforts were recognized by all the three candidates we supported, and they sent us personal videos expressing appreciation for our work to get them elected. You can find the videos here . We were heartened and energized by our success in the 2018 election. In 2020, we are scaling our South Asian-to-South Asian outreach model to the national level! 2018 EVENT PHOTOS Manteca Canvassing Event Selma TJ Cox campaign office Post-election celebration meeting Getting ready to canvas at Tracy Dems Office The Punjabi contingent of TSB canvassing in Tracy They See Blue Members with TJ Cox TJ Cox Event TJ Cox Event Josh Harder Event Andrew Janz Event 2018 Photos 2018 Videos 2018 EVENT MEDIA

About Us In 2018, the San Francisco Bay Area is where it all started for They See Blue®. We we worked on three House races in the Central Valley and helped win two. Since then we have grown significantly to more than 600 members. In 2022, we will continue to focus on California House races in particular while continuing to help some swing state Senate races. The particular House races we are considering are CA-03, CA-13, CA-22, CA-27, CA-40, CA-41 and CA-45. In 2019, we focused on helping growing chapters in swing states such as Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina and a few others. In 2020, our members wrote postcards, phone- and text-banked and fundraised across various swing states — especially Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida. Some of our members are very well trained and lead phonebanks for various states on a weekly basis. We wrapped 2020 and started 2021 by doubling down on Georgia, driving turnout for the Senate run-offs. In late 2021, we mobilized to fight the Republican recall of Gov. Gavin Newsom. This gave us an opportunity to rally in the Bay Area and literature drop and canvass in our own neighborhoods. Chapters > Texas GROWING A NATIONAL MOVEMENT Texas is within Democratic reach in 2020! Though Texas has trended blue over the last several decades, the political tide in this state is beginning to turn as young, minority voters register to vote in droves. Texas has had historically low voter turnout, so registering and mobilizing progressive South Asian voters en masse can have a profound effect on this state's political landscape, and can shift Texas blue in 2020.
