September 2024 Newsletter
JOIN US to help Democrats get elected on Nov. 5! Ensure that your family, friends, colleagues and neighbors are registered to vote.
As in 2020, the swing states shaded in purple below — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — will likely determine control of the White House. And while the numbers of registered Democratic and Republican voters are roughly equal across the nation, the number of non-partisan, unaffiliated or Independent voters has risen greatly over the last four years, meaning they will presumably decide the presidential and many other races.
Kamala's Terrific, Wonderful, Very Good Six Weeks
Just six weeks after President Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 election and endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris has surged ahead of Republican rival Donald Trump in recent national polling following the Democratic National Convention.
She and her diverse pro-democratic coalition, including prominent Republicans, will have to continue their momentum for another 65 days. Harris and Trump are neck and neck in seven swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — which are the key states that They See Blue is targeting.
For a good rundown on the after convention campaign buzz, read Simon Rosenberg's assessment. Keep the momentum going for the Harris/Walz campaign elected and we need you to keep help out any way you can.
Chapter and Media News
NY/NJ Chapter News
In 2020, the New York/New Jersey chapter was launched, supporting candidates across those states and Connecticut. In 2024, the chapter split to focus on motivating the South Asian vote for critical candidates in their respective states. The New York chapter mobilizes voters through postcard writing, phone and text banking and canvassing, and setting guidelines for its members to contribute. For example, each must write 200 postcards or complete five 2-hour phone banking shifts and those living in districts of endorsed candidates must volunteer for two canvassing shifts. The chapter has also endorsed five Democratic candidates in congressional and state elections.
New Jersey’s chapter is also taking a similar approach in campaigning for GOTV efforts — postcard writing, phone and text banking, canvassing and conducting meet and greets with specific candidates. It has so far endorsed congressional candidate Sue Altman for the state’s 7th congressional district. Please visit other chapters, including North Carolina, which has created a robust organization to campaign for Democrats, and newly launched Nevada.

"In our bones, we know democracy at risk — is at risk. But we also know this: It’s within our power, each and every one of us, to preserve our democracy."
— President Joe Biden
